Sumas Community Days Recap

  • +$144 in sales
    • $63 through card (-$2.35)
    • $81 in cash
  • Sales:
    • cotton candy: 19
    • popcorn: 16
    • t-shirts: 6
    • sticker: 1
  • We had to rent a popcorn maker last minute due to an unexpected situation with our own maker. Rental cost $150
  • Seven book recommendations were turned in

During the Fishing Derby, weather was a problem and made the cotton candy and popcorn both struggle. If weather was better our sales would have been a lot better. Additionally, there were power issues with from unexpected flood damage that hadn’t been addressed. That slowed us down quite a bit. All of that said, it was worth it and we will do it again!

Live cotton candy was worth it, especially when “live” spun. Kids loved customizing and watching it happen. Plus significantly less prep and less waste.

We made significantly less money but the opportunity is still there. It was a great interaction with the community. Chip and Samantha read books, children planted sunflower seeds and made monster masks.

Library Re-opening

  • What does the library need?
    • According to Calya, nothing specific yet. A lot is in process and furniture and other final pieces are still a month-ish out
    • The library is pretty echo-y. Soundproofing stuff? Worth looking into
    • Floor rug for storytime
    • Reassess after the next year’s Spring Adult Social fundraiser
  • Re-open party in the Fall?, ideally after the meeting room exists.
  • The meeting room ended up costing more than expected so that is still happening but more funding is being figured out. Funding and fundraising options are being explored

BINGO

  • BINGO before trunk or treat
  • Business partner options: Kenny from Bellingham
