Paper Star Ornament Workshop - sign ups 11/8, event 12/6

REQUEST: Dreamcatcher Program based on the legend from the Great Plains; adults program to hear a story and make a dreamcatcher;
- library requests $400 to fund 20 people to attend
- pay likely in April so part of 2026 budget
- Request approved and FOSL will fund the program

Chess Club is currently not active
- tried expanding to other classic games but not much attendance
- potentially offering a future Pokemon day

Graphic Novel Book Club is going well; typically 4-7 kids attend

Lunch Break Book Club also going well, takes place on Mon and Wed

BINGO - November 10
- Doors open at 6:30, games start at 7

Prizes donated:
- Loca Mocha (mug and coffee)
- Napa (hats, antifreeze, window cleaner)
- Scentsy (keychains, mugs, wax melt plug-in, lotions, soaps, etc.)

- Set up - general volunteers at 6:00, some will be there earlier

Santa in the Park

Sumas City has asked us to help with Santa in the Park this year

Either Dec 1 or 8, not sure yet but probably Dec 1

Rough draft idea:
- Event at Library and community center

FOSL does not wish to run Santa in the Park and has voted against being officially involved. The concern was getting “stuck” with the event while already feeling stretched thin. Emphasis of FOSL should be on promoting the library, not just an event committee.
Winter Movie Proposal
- Suggest moving a summer movie into a winter indoor movie to space out events
- ~$150 to rent a room, ~$200 custodians at the Nooksack Valley High School
- Seats 400
- Look into making this a sponsored event
- Possibly combo with other Friends groups or community nonprofits

- Be mindful of donation fatigue, especially with Bingo and Wine & Dine
