Upcoming Events: Summer 2026

An overview of the events that FOSL will host or attend during the summer of 2026.

Summer is always the busiest time of the year for Friends of the Sumas Library (FOSL). Here is where you can find us for the next few months!

June

Sumas Community Days

Things start off with the Sumas Community Days. On Friday, June 26th there is a cornhole tournament, followed on Saturday, June 27th by a city parade, vendors in the park, a “glow & foam” event, and fireworks! None of these are FOSL events, but we will be participating.

You will find us at the cornhole tournament selling popcorn and fresh spun cotton candy. Also keep an eye our for us walking in the parade with the Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) bookmobile and our very own Fossil dinosaur mascot, hand created by one of our members. We will also have a vendor booth set up next to WCLS to help promote and support our local library branch. Check out our Sumas Community Days event page for more details.

July

Movie in the Park

On July 24th we will be hosting our first (and only) movie in the park. This is a free showing starting at sundown. Due to budget constraints and limited volunteer power, we had to back off from our usual two movie events to just one this year. If you have feelings about this and would like to see the second movie come back, then we would love to see you at our meetings to help plan and run these events!

This year we are showing Monster’s Inc. (2001), which came out 25 years ago! Monster’s Inc. was nominated for 4 Academy Awards, winning the Best Original Song category.

Lovable Sulley and his wisecracking sidekick Mike Wazowski are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. When a little girl named Boo wanders into their world, it’s the monsters who are scared silly, and it’s up to Sulley and Mike to keep her out of sight and get her back home.

Our goal is to provide free (or low price) concessions, with additional paid options provided by local food trucks. Check out our Movie in the Park event page for more details.
