Movie in the Park recap
Showed A Goofy Movie on Friday, July 26, 9:15 start time
Estimated attendance 150 people
Good points:
• Great attendance! (max attendance possible is probably 250 given size of area)
• Chocolate candies went quickly, all sodas (except diet) sold out – probably need to purchase more for next movie
• Concessions went entire time not just prior to movie as planned
Bad points:
• Digital notifications (social media) and signage in park went out too close to event
• Took much longer to set everything up than expected. Took almost 2 hours for concessions to get set up. This is partially due to the fact that all the people involved in setting up – Nancy, Samantha, Brett, Sarah and Deanna – had not organized this in the past but had been helpers, and also due to the lack of volunteers to help. Next movie will be better due to this experience, and additional FOSL members will be able to help at next movie
• Moving items from Brett & Sarah’s too many car loads. Next time have a truck to be able to carry more stuff per trip, or store items at the History Museum so trips are shorter distance.
• Voting for next movie went ok, but probably need another person to help push the voting so more people participate
For the next movie:
• talk to Sumas Elementary about getting it on their digital screen
• talk to Boomtown about having it on their sign
• see if City of Sumas can put on their mobile signage as people go out of town (like was done with Sumas Days
• contact Lynden Tribune to list on their event page
• Find truck to move stuff from storage site to park and/or store items at History Museum
• Need 8 – 10 people to work concessions to have it go smoothly
o Hot dog person
o Popcorn person
o Nachos person
o Order taker – cash based
o Order taker – credit card based
o Runner (to get hot dogs/popcorn/nachos to table)
o Ticket checking person
• Items to purchase to run smoother/store items for the next year
o Extension cords
o Caution signs
o Plastic totes for items to more easily transport from storage to park
Brett will measure the size of the speakers, etc to see how large of a tote is needed

To do’s for movie:
• Announce winner and movie info on Facebook – Samantha

o Additional avenues of advertising – see above recap of previous movie
-

Idea is to have a carnival similar to the ones that used to be held at schools with simple games and a cake walk.

Possibly include band boosters to sell food - Nancy will contact
Possibly food trucks? – Samantha will contact Chamber to see if she can get their vendor list for Sumas Days and contact those vendors
