Event Description

The End of Summer Reading Carnival is coming to town! Library branches all over the county are hosting community events to help celebrate the conclusion of Whatcom County Library System’s Summer Reading program. Here in Sumas, we are throwing a carnival. Play games, do some coloring, eat some treats, and head inside to check out a book, movie, or game. All for free!

The End of Summer Reading Carnival will take place outside of the Sumas Library from 12pm - 5pm. Miraculous Braidz & Beauty will be there from 1pm - 3pm providing a face paint party, glitter tattoos, and balloon animals.

Each child attendee will receive a goody bag filled with tickets for prizes/treats, custom coloring pages, stickers, and more! while supplies last

All Day Activities

12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

  1. Coloring Station
    • Supplies and patterns to get coloring
  2. Paper Airplane Station & Activity
    • Make paper airplanes and see if you can land inside the target zones
  3. Bubble Station
    • Blow bubbles of all shapes and sizes
  4. Catch & Release Fishing Activity
    • Relax by the “lake” and catch fish using magnets
  5. Cornhole Activity
    • Toss some bean bags and play cornhole
  6. Chuck-a-Duck Activity
    • Test your aim with some rubber ducks
  7. Jump Rope Activity
    • Jump solo or bring some friends for Double Dutch
  8. Prize Station & Activity
    • Participate in the Library Scavenger Hunt
    • Turn in tickets for food, drinks, or prizes

  1. Glitter Tattoos

    • Closest guess keeps the jar of candy
    • Candy count and winner announced at 3:00 pm

3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  1. Balloon Animals
  2. Guess the Value: Coin Jar
    • Closest guess keeps the jar of coins
    • Coin value and winner announced at 4:00 pm
